Winter Blush Wardrobe

The cold weather always brings a very welcome pale quality to my skin, which I absolutely adore and love to play on. I love embracing my pale skin, and I’ve now got a solid base routine which I feel makes me look naturally glowing in the colder months. Despite my love of a very light skin tone, I always love to add a flush of colour to my cheeks. These are my winter blush favourites because they always manage to make me look healthy, full of colour and snuggly warm in the cold winter air.

The first is E.L.F Tickled Pink which is a very pastel peach toned blush, and a shade I would probably describe as ‘barely there’. It’s a shade perfect for my winter blush wardrobe, because it adds a slight glow to my complexion during those freezing winter days. It’s very much an every-day shade, and pretty effortless, too. I can just sweep it on my cheeks and, to be honest, it only adds a very slight tone to my cheeks but it is just enough to perk up my makeup.

GOSH Melon blush is next, and this one is so unbelievably sheer and peachy again. It’s one of those everyday shades which perks me up again, and I love this one because it’s so affordable and easy to track down in Superdrug. It comes in at around £6, and for the price, it’s a good texture which blends out nicely. The shade is similar to the E.L.F one; a wearble peach which adds a subtle glow and warmth.

NO7 Coral Flush is the pinkest of all my winter blushes, as I prefer to lean more towards brightening, warming shades with orangey undertones, but there’s something about this crisp pink that draws me to wear it in winter. I think it makes you look so cute and cold; it is that classic ‘rosy cheeks’ colour. This one’s slightly more pricey, but still very much drugstore and easy enough to track down. This is a really nice texture too, and the shade always makes me feel pretty in pink.

NARS Deep Throat is my ultimate favourite of the bunch; a perfect peachy pink with tiny flecks of glitter to really help you illuminate your tired, pale wintery complexion. I fall in love with this baby more and more every time I use it as I believe it compliments my skintone beautifully, especially when it’s at it’s palest, and warms up my face and brightens me without looking too ‘caked’. The glitter is seriously subtle, and just acts to highlight your skin and make you look awake and flushed with colour. This is definitely more of a pricey one, but I’ll never love another blush more.

NARS Orgasm (oh, NARS, you cheeky chaps with those sexy names) is an absolute cult favourite, so I doubt you need to know too much about it. It’s a rich pinky toned blush with miniscule flecks of golden glitter dust which simply makes your skin radiant, flushed and full of life. This one is so highly pigmented and slightly on the bolder side, so I prefer to wear mine for winter evenings and festive parties as you can get away with a little more makeup after dark, but even so, a light dusting of this during the day will make you look positively rosy.

Boohoo Order - The Christmas Dress Edition

Hello, I’m Jasmine and I have a shopping addiction. I decided that, not only was I going to pick an outfit to wear for one day only (although Christmas day is a big day that calls for dressing up!), I was going to order three dresses for the day. Har har. I fell in love with these beautiful dresses, though.

My favourite of the three, and definitely the most dressy, is the Halle dress, with a gorgeous lace overlay and a deep sexy v-neck. I’ll definitely do outfit posts featuring these, but I’m planning on pairing it with some chunky boot heels and a black handbag, with my lilac hair curled and a bright red lip.

Then there’s the burgundy velvet skater dress, which is so cute and perfect, I think, for the present opening ceremony. It’s a grungey take on the Christmas dress, and I’ll pair it with my trusty Doc Marten boots and a fedora (if I can track one down that is!)

Then there is the black jersey skater dress, which is going to be timeless and perfect throughout the winter seasons with a pair of thick black tights, chunky soled boots and a duffle coat over the top. It’s a winter classic, and will be reached for throughout the colder months.

What do you think of these babies as Christmas dresses? Boohoo has done me proud, and I’m so excited to look and feel fabulous come Christmas day, and for my Christmas parties!

♔ Autumn/Winter Saviours

I’m a winter lover and nothing summer offers can compare to the cosy nights in snuggled underneath a blanket watching TV with my boyfriend and family. I’ve been so excited to experience a proper cold winter in England since moving back home from Australia, and I’ve made sure I’m fully prepared for the chilliness that is to come! These are my favourite winter time saviours!

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Floral - £3.50 – Superdrug
For those days where you simply can’t even contemplate getting undressed and jumping in the shower to wash your hair, Batiste has your back. It’s saved my skin more times than I care to admit, but for those days where you’ve got to pull yourself together and venture out into the wintery wilderness and look decent whilst going about it, Batiste’s dry shampoos are works of magic. I spritz mine around the roots and rustle it around my roots to add volume and disguise the fact I’m too lazy and far far far too freezing to get naked and shower, and I’m set!

Thrift Scarf - £2 – Charity Shop
I’ve had this beige tartan scarf for absolutely years and it is an old faithful of mine. There’s something so comfy about it and it fits in well when I’m dressing a little more grungey (which I always tend to do in the winter). I always see these in charity shops and I picked up a green one a couple of weeks ago, but tartan just screams A/W and I love my cheap and chips scarf.

Thick Fluffy Socks - £4 – Primark
I’m sure I share the ‘permanently freezing’ trait with many of you. My hands are always icy, but when my feet start to feel cold, that’s where I start losing the will to live. Fluffy socks from Primark are the answer! I don’t know anyone who doesn’t stock up on these during the winter months, but they come in such a variety of patterns and they’re so unbelievably cheap. They’re knitted and fleecy on the inside, and you can’t find anything so wonderful for such a low price so, if you’re a freezy person like me, definitely grab a pair!

Violet Skies - £5 – Bleach London
As most of you’ll know, I’ve had gorgeous pastel purple hair for the past couple of months. Bleach London’s offering is a temporary dye which can really add an edginess to your hair for a little while. It lasts between 2-10 washes (although mine is fading a bit strangely now!) and just gives my blonde hair a gorgeous pastel lilac tone. I can’t fault the product for only five quid, and you can pick it up from boots easily and have a bit of an experiment.

Apricot Self-Heating Exfoliating Mask – £0.99 – Superdrug
A definite winter warmer! This mask actually heats itself up as you apply it to your skin, and has grains of apricot seeds to gently exfoliate the dry skin that is usually brought on by the onset of freezing cold weather. I tried this out one afternoon and was amazed by how warm the mask felt, and how relaxed I was when using it. This is one for a winter afternoon pamper session!

Blistex Intensive Repair Lip Balm - $6.99 – Priceline
THIS. Lip balms can be reeeeally hit and miss, and most of the drugstore balms don’t usually touch the dryness and flakiness of my lips during winter. This one, on the other hand, tingles as I apply it, and after about 15 minutes, the flaky bits of skin on my lips sort of disappear and the bottom layer is moisturised and soft. I’m so pleased with this lipbalm and it has been a constant repurchase for over a year. It is perfect!

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment - £8.49 – Boots
My hair can get so dry in the cold weather, and in the wind it gets whipped around and tangled up, and my ends split and it is basically a massive nightmare. I love hair masks to remedy this, and one of my favourites recently has been the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment, which is a lovely, creamy, protein based treatment which makes my hair so soft and manageable. Watch this space to see if it actually makes my hair grow!

Lord & Berry Lipstick Crayon in Vintage Pink - £8 – LookFantastic
This absolute wonder product is so beautiful and I don’t get to use it throughout the summer just because it’s a little bit too bluey for summer. When winter rolls around, however, this icy pink, beautifully opaque, deliciously creamy lipstick crayon is perfect for my skintone and matches the time of year perfectly. Lord & Berry became one of my top favourite brands after trying this, and now I’m hooked. This lipstick crayon is permanently in my handbag, and it is my everyday go-to pink lip for the cool winter months!

fotd: Everyday Makeup For Lilac Hair

I simply adore having lilac locks; so much comes with it, like feeling free spirited and getting compliments and getting to revamp your wardrobe. There’s only one thing that really bugs me about it, and it is that I can’t wear certain makeup colours and styles because they clash a bit. With this in mind, I’ve had to change my usual everyday makeup look from mainly browns and nudes to coppery mauves and pinks.

This is my go-to every day look now, and I get to use my Stila In The Moment Palette a whole load more! I tend to lean more towards subtle pale pinks and lilacs to stop my hair from clashing with my makeup. For my everyday look, I use:

Rimmel Lasting Perfection Foundation in Vanilla
MAC StudioFix Powder Plus Foundation in NW15
Illamasqua Sculpting Powder Duo
Benefit Dandelion Blush
Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium
Stila In The Moment Palette
Seventeen High Drama Intense Liquid Eyeliner
Benefit Bad Gal Lash
Lord & Berry Lipstick Crayon in Vintage Pink

It’s a relatively quick look compared to my usual 45 minute routine, and it took me a while to perfect and get used to not delving into my trusty Naked palette every morning! Even so, I think it’s such a pretty makeup look and it is great to freshen up your usual every day look every now and again! Let me know what you think in the comments or on Twitter!

christmas inspo: Benefit's Fun Size Flirts & Special Little Extras

I was lucky enough to be treated by my gorgeous boyfriend last week. I didn’t ever expect he’d get a gift SO right, but he wandered in to work one evening with a Debenhams bag and presented me with this. I was over the moon! I’m going to review every product separately and I’m so excited to try all 10 products out. This would obviously make an idea Christmas gift for a beauty loving family member or friend, but I’m allowed to play with mine now, so, here’s what I got!

the POREfessional mini primer | 7.5ml
-       This is one I’ve already tried and I’m in love with it. I don’t feel like I’ve got very large pores but I’ve loved how my skin feels immediately after application and it creates the perfect airbrush look for my makeup base.

they’re real! mini mascara
-       Again, I’ve got the full size and I’m gutted with how quickly I seem to have blitzed through it. This is a cheeky little booster which will hopefully see me through until I can buy another full size tube!

BADgal lash mini mascara
-       Here’s one I’m really excited about. This one is extremely volumizing and, as far as I can tell, is a huge hit among the blogging community. Benefit calls it an instant set of false lashes; win!

instant comeback facial serum mini
-       “Benefit Instant Comeback face serum instantly boosts the youthful look of skin...firming, smoothing, energising and protecting against visible signs of aging. The fast-absorbing formula with tri-radiance complex plumps & deep-hydrates so tired skin feels refreshed & revitalised...and looks more radiant. Benefit Instant Comeback Facial Serum dramatically boosts the effectiveness of any skincare routine.”

“That Gal” brightening face primer
-       “Our silky pink primer takes your complexion from dull to darling! Simply blend it on for the look of brighter, smoother skin. Contains light-reflecting pigments to help brighten all skin tones and raspberry & camomile to soothe skin.”

dandelion mini blusher
-       I’ve already fallen head over heels with this just by looking at the gorgeous pink peach shade in the palette. I can’t believe I haven’t tried this one before; it is the perfect blush shade for me, and especially with winter around the corner it’ll perk up my pale skin just nicely and subtly.

sun beam mini highlighter | 2.5ml
-       This golden bronze highlighter gives you a natural, sunkissed radiance. Dot & blend over makeup on to cheeks for a bronzed glow that complements all skintones. It’s liquid sunshine in a bottle!

posietint mini lip and cheek tint | 2.5ml
-       Posietint is probably the one I’ll get least use out of, but only because it seems like a very very pigmented and vibrant pink shade which isn’t what I’m used to. It’s a cheek and lip tint, which again, is something very foreign to me and my makeup routine, but obviously I’m intrigued and maybe I’ll fall in love!

ooh la lift mini instant under-eye brightening boost
-       Benefit Ooh la Lift Instant Under-Eye Brightening Boost contains raspberry extracts and light-reflecting pigments to instantly perk up tired eyes. Can be applied on bare skin or over makeup.

stay don’t stray makeup and eyeshadow primer in light/medium
-       This dual-action power primer works 360° around the eyes to make concealers AND eyeshadows STAY PUT. Concealers don't crease, eyeshadows stay vibrant and true.

All in all, a wonderful lot from Benefit, and a perfect gift for makeup addicts. My personal favourites and things I’m most excited about are the Dandelion blush, the Sunbeam Bronzer and That Gal Brightening Primer. Elliot also managed to bag me a couple of brilliant samples; the Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation to try (in my shade!! How??) and three sachets of the skincare by Benefit, which I’m actually worried I’m going to adore and have to buy! Eek!

review: MAC Lipstick in Faux

All aboard the 90’s lip craze! I’m a sucker for a MAC purchase, and when I saw all these gorgeous pictures floating around Pinterest and Instagram of these sultry, sexy nude lips, I had to jump online and place an order for the beautiful MAC Faux lipstick.

Faux is a ‘muted mauve pink’, according to MAC, but on my pale winter skin it looks like a deeper brown-pink nude. For those of you paler ladies, this one is definitely a lipstick you should consider to achieve that Kylie Jenner lip!

It’s a satin finish, which I’m beginning to realise is my absolute favourite finish for a lipstick. It’s so creamy, so velvety and so highly pigmented. It’s almost nourishing, and feels silky and balmy on the lips. As most of you will know, MAC lipsticks are probably the best lipsticks on the market, and Faux is no exception.

I absolutely adore the way this looks on the lips; it’s a perfect deep nude that’s bang on trend with the Kylie Jenner 90’s lip. I usually pair it with a bronzey base and a subtle brown smoky eye for a pretty daytime look.

Current Favourites: 90's Makeup Inspiration

After jumping on the 90’s lip bandwagon and purchasing the gorgeous Faux lipstick by MAC, I’ve been really inspired by the nude brown lip. I did some digging on Pinterest to have a look at how to recreate this grungey style I’ve fallen so in love with, and found some beautiful makeup looks using darker brown, mauve and plum lips. I’ve definitely got my inspiration from these pictures and there’s loads of new styles I want to try.
