MY FAVOURITE SPRING SKINCARE PRODUCTS | BEFORE + AFTER

Now this is a story all about how my skincare got flipped upside down and I’d like to take a minute just sit right there, I’ll tell you how I got rid of my spots with this amaze-balls skincare. *insert bit of the fresh prince theme song that goes do do do do, do do do doo, doo do doo do*.

I’ve been experimenting a little bit with my skincare over the last couple of months; trying new brands, trying new time schedules and routines, trying to remember to have that weekly face mask session. I’ve definitely settled on a few favourites recently, and, through trial and error, got rid of products that have angered my mush over the recent weeks.

My skin is usually relatively well-behaved. I don’t tend to get many spots unless I get really lazy. I know that my skin is sensitive and oily-combination, so I’ve always tried to find products to suit it. After a bit of a failure with sk:n clinics (review here) which resulted in my skin absolutely erupting after just three days without using it, I decided I needed to stick to products that are kind to my skin, and actually work to get rid of spots.

Clarisonic Mia 2 | £120 | FeelUnique
This little baby came into my life and swept me off my feet back in 2013, I think it was. I filmed a how-to video that managed to get a ridiculous amount of views, considering its just a video of me washing my face (watch here). It must be the most expensive investment in my face I ever made, and I still wince I little bit thinking about the price. BUT, it is an incredible piece of kit. It exfoliates your skin really deeply, but the interchangeable heads mean you can choose a sensitive one (or a harsher one) if you need. I’d definitely recommend it if you want a deeper clean, and it makes you feel smooth and bright and glowy.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water 400ml | £4.99 | Superdrug
This one doesn’t need any introduction, and I’m sure the entire blogging community has got one of these in their bathrooms. It’s what I use to remove my makeup before going in with my cleanser, and it literally melts all six inches of foundation off my face. I love it because it’s cheap and cheerful, lasts a good few weeks and is gentle on my skin whilst getting the job done properly. They do a sensitive version, and one enriched with oils, but I do love the OG.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser | £14.50 | Boots
I can’t quite remember when I first noticed Liz Earle’s products, but since buying them for the first time in 2016, I’ve always had a bottle of the Hot Cloth Cleanser in my stash. I just looooove it. It’s made with natural ingredients and feels so silky and luxurious to use. I’d always used a foamy cleanser up until discovering this baby, because I felt like the foaminess was doing a better job of cleaning my skin, but this creamy formula does an incredible job too. I’ve tried a few other hot cloth cleansers but this is my favourite one scent-wise, results-wise and price-wise.

Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator | £16.50 | Boots
This is my newest addition to my Liz Earle collection and another firm favourite. Again, it’s a really creamy base made with cocoa butter, but this one also contains almond shell which is a lovely (and natural!) exfoliant. It’s on the pricier side when you consider you get less in the bottle than the Hot Cloth Cleanser, and costs more. Another little irk is that the exfoliation isn’t as gritty as I might prefer. However, my skin is always left feeling sooo soft (though that’s probably due to the cocoa butter base more so than the grit) and I genuinely love it.

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic | £15.50 | Boots
I probably started to use this so regularly just because it is part of the Liz Earle collection, but I have started to notice when I’ve missed a toning session. The bottle is nice and big, so you don’t have to worry about running out too soon. I swipe it over my face and neck with a cotton pad after cleansing and exfoliating, and it tightens my pores and brightens my complexion no end. It’s full of natural ingredients which don’t feel harsh on my sensitive skin, smells lovely and is a nice refresher for the spring season.

Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser Normal/Combination | £21 | Boots
As a lifelong moisturiser-phobe (due to my idiotic thinking that if I had oily skin, WHY should I be using a moisturiser???) I’d never invested in a decent moisturiser until this one. I like the fact that it feels almost genuinely tailored to my skin. My skin is sensitive, oily-combination and this moisturiser is made from all natural ingredients and is specially formulated for oily-combo skin. It contains avocado, borage plant oils and vitamin E.

Origins Original Skin Retexturising Mask With Rose Clay | £25 | John Lewis
I managed to accumulate about 11 full-size face masks during an obsessive period last year. I bought hydrating masks, sheet masks, clay masks, thermal heat masks. You name it, and I probably own one somewhere. But one of my favourites was the Origins Rose Clay Retexturising Mask which contains rose clay and exfoliating properties. The mask goes on pastel pink (so I’m already sold, tbh), dries to a solid clay, then as you rinse it off the fine grit removes all your crappy old skin-cells and leaves you with the brightest skin you’ve ever had. That’s why I think it’s perfect for spring. It’s definitely my favourite mask by Origins that I’ve tried so far, but when this runs out I’m eyeing up a couple of their others.

GlamGlow SuperMud Clearing Treatment 15g | £16 | ASOS
No, honestly, this is some goooooooood shit. Another retro YouTube video of mine that managed to get a weirdly large number of views (yep, another video of me washing my face) features me trying out a GlamGlow mask. I’ve always loved their products, and have made it my mission to own a new product whenever I can. They’re bloody expensive but they genuinely work wonders for me. I love the SuperMud Clearing Treatment because it goes on dark grey, dries to a light grey, but remains dark grey in the areas where all the grotesque shite has been sucked out of your pores. You can literally see it working, which is why I love it so much. I’d recommend saving this for a Sunday night, rather than using it on the day of an event. The fact that it sucks all the dirt out of your pores can mean it triggers off a breakout.

As you can see from the before and after pictures, my skin looks so much clearer, brighter and rosier after going through my skincare routine. I love how smooth it feels and it’s a perfect base to then put makeup on. The only thing I feel like I’m missing is a good, rich night serum for sensitive, oily skin. Hmmm.

What are your go-to skincare products during spring? Can any of you recommend a good night serum to add to my collection?

Lots of love,
Jasmine x
